Blog Tour review and giveaway – The Accidental Guest by Tilly Tennant

By | December 9, 2015

Soulmates don’t just fall from the sky… do they?
Hannah Meadows doesn’t believe in fate or destiny, or any of the other things people reach for when they lose control of their lives. That is, until a man arrives on her doorstep on Christmas Day begging for help. Hannah’s not the sort of woman to turn her back on someone in need, but this isn’t what compels her to aid the handsome stranger, nor is it his intense dark eyes, or the inexplicable feelings she quickly develops for him.

Something magical is coming her way, something that will turn her life completely upside down. Hannah Meadows may not believe in fate or destiny, but they seem to have other ideas…

I really enjoy novellas at Christmas – when dashing about beforehand, or when you’re in the midst of it and it’s just impossible to concentrate on a full-length novel, I think they really come into their own. I’m also slightly ashamed that I’ve never read anything by Tilly Tennant, and being involved in the blog tour arranged by Brook Cottage Books was the ideal opportunity to give her writing a try – I’d heard great things! The Accidental Guest is the first of four novellas in a planned series called Once Upon A Winter, available for Kindle via Amazon in the UK and US, and a perfect 83 pages in length.

What a lovely Christmassy read this was – but do be ready for the  ‘to be continued’ part at the end! I enjoyed it so much that I went straight onto Amazon to pre-order the second part, and was delighted to see that I’m Not In Love is out on 7th January. Tilly writes quite beautifully and does a lovely job of creating Christmas atmosphere as Hannah, her sister Gina and young Jess prepare their turkey dinner – characters you immediately warm too, with their sad backgrounds but lovely warm friendships and sparkling banter, and the story really draws you in.  The handsome stranger who arrives on the doorstep as the snow continues to fall, the near tragedy involving a neighbour, and the hint of future romance made this a really perfect Christmas read – but I’m dying to find out what happens next!

With thanks to Tilly and Brook Cottage Books, I’m delighted to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a Amazon gift card for £10 or $15. Here’s the Rafflecopter:

Tilly Tennant was born in Dorset, the oldest of four children, but now lives in Staffordshire with a family of her own. After years of dismal and disastrous jobs, including paper plate stacking, shop girl, newspaper promotions and waitressing (she never could carry a bowl of soup without spilling a bit), she decided to indulge her passion for the written word by embarking on a degree in English and creative writing, graduating in 2009 with first class honours. She wrote her first novel in 2007 during her first summer break at university and has not stopped writing since. She also works as a freelance fiction editor, and considers herself very lucky that this enables her to read many wonderful books before the rest of the world gets them.

Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was her debut novel; published in 2014 it was an Amazon bestseller in both the UK and Australia. It was followed by Mishaps and Mistletoe and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved. Find out more about Tilly and how to join her mailing list for news and exclusives via her website. Really fancy this one and it's the cover that draws me in. I like the Impressionism of the design – and the snow!

The cover is very pretty and attractive – especially the snow! It would certainly entice me to pick it up and investigate it further.

I adore the cover, just the thing that makes me buy a book, it looks dreamy and inviting!

Screams "pick me up and read me". Sometimes I don't even read the back and pick a book up if I really like the cover, would definitely make me pick it up and take it home. 🙂
