Every Happily Ever After began with a Once Upon a Time…
After working a busy Christmas Eve shift at her family’s flower shop, Chelsea can barely keep her eyes open for her Gran’s annual festive get-together. Can her Christmas dreams come true under the mistletoe?
Last month I had the great pleasure of reading and reviewing the first three stories in the Meet Cute series by new author Katey Lovell. You’ll find my review here – I really enjoyed The Boy In The Bookshop, The Boy At The Bakery and The Boy On The Beach. So I was quite delighted when Katey sent me an advance copy of the next in the series, The Boy Under The Mistletoe, to be published by Harper Impulse for Kindle on 17th December, and available for pre-order.
Like the others, this a very short story – if you read it while cooking your sprouts, they’ll still be a bit crunchy – but quite perfectly told. The story’s a simple one – poor exhausted Chelsea unexpectedly finds the start of her own fairy tale at her Gran’s Christmas party – but it’s beautifully delivered and quite wonderfully Christmassy. Katey writes excellent dialogue, great descriptions and this story has the same easy, readable style – perfect for a lighter short story – that the first three stories had. Quite lovely – but I do hope we’ll soon be seeing something a little longer from this lovely new author!
