#Coverreveal: Buried Treasure by Gilli Allan @gilliallan @rararesources

By | June 8, 2019

It’s an immense pleasure today to be helping reveal the cover of the new book from Gilli Allan, Buried Treasure, due for publication on 14th June and now available for pre-order via Amazon in the UK (at 99p, but only until publication) and US.

Do you know, I’d almost given up on being able to say “new book from Gilli Allan”, and I’m really excited about this one – as I’m sure you can tell by my quote on the new cover (thank you, Gilli!). I’ve previously reviewed two of her books here on Being Anne – Life Class and Torn (links are to my earlier reviews – there’s also a rather lovely interview, from 2015, if you’d like to find out a little more about the author) – and I think the greatest tribute I can pay is to say that she writes the kind of stories that I like to read. There’s romance – of course – but her characters are often a little flawed, her plots rather different from what you might expect, and her writing is superb. She can catch you by surprise, take you to places you might not be expecting: I’ve already had the pleasure of reading this book, really enjoyed it, and I think a lot of other people will too…

Their backgrounds could hardly be further apart, their expectations in life more different. And there is nothing in the first meeting between the conference planner and the university lecturer which suggests they should expect or even want to connect again. But they have more in common than they could ever have imagined. Both have unresolved issues from the past which have marked them; both have an archaeological puzzle they want to solve. Their stories intertwine and they discover together that treasure isn’t always what it seems.

I’m very much looking forward to sharing my review on publication day… and the blog tour (organised by Rachel’s Random Resources) begins on 31st July.

About the author

Gilli Allan began to write in childhood – a hobby pursued throughout her teenage years. Writing was only abandoned when she left home, and real life supplanted the fiction. After a few false starts she worked longest and most happily as a commercial artist, and only began writing again when she became a mother.

Living in Gloucestershire with her husband Geoff, Gilli is still a keen artist. She draws and paints and has now moved into book illustration.

Currently published by Accent Press, each of her books – Torn, Life Class and Fly or Fall – has won a Chill with a Book award.

Following in the family tradition, her son, historian Thomas Williams, is also a writer. His most recent work, published by William Collins, is Viking Britain.

Thank you so much for your generous comments. I am sorry I have not had time to actually visit Being Anne myself until today, as opposed to directing others to it. Yesterday was manic but I am sure you know I am incredibly grateful for your support and almost embarrassed by the nice things you say about me! #. Gillix

PS. To make this comment more commercially minded – A word to the wise. The price is currently at ‘a not to be repeated’ low of 99p, until the 14th!.
