#Book #spotlight: United in Love, a charity anthology edited by Lucy Felthouse @cw1985

By | October 12, 2017

Last Friday I had the immense pleasure of meeting up with the Belmont Belles – the Leicester RNA chapter – for lunch, with the warmest of welcomes and the loveliest of ladies to spend time with. My thanks again to Lizzie Lamb for her invitation, and I’ll really look forward to joining them again at some point in the future. It’ll be a real pleasure over forthcoming months to introduce you to some of the authors I met there, and the books they told me about.

Today it’s the turn of Marcia Holah, who writes as MH Heyer. Marcia told me about the new anthology she’s contributed to – United in Love, now available in e-book and in paperback. The book was the brainchild of Lucy Felthouse – also a chapter member – and every penny raised from sales will be donated to the British Red Cross’ UK Solidarity Fund, launched on 4th June 2017 to help the victims of terror anywhere in the UK. Everyone involved has donated their time for free, and all proceeds are to go to the Red Cross. The book features short stories from Lucy, Marcia (MH Heyer), Gina Wynn, Lily Harlem, Rebecca Chase, Rosie Jamieson, Skye Mackinnon, Alyssa Drake and Arizona Tape.

Do download a preview of this one and read Lucy’s moving introduction to the book, and about the events that inspired her to pull it together.  I have to admit that the steamier side of romance might not be my usual reading – but it might just be yours, and I’m delighted to help draw attention both to the book and the excellent cause.

The world could use a lot more love, which is why being united in love is the theme of this short story collection. Each of the characters are dealing with horrific and heartbreaking situations—loss, grief, war, divorce, dementia, disputes over land and more, but what they all have in common is that, with the help of love, of unity, they come through. It may not be all happily-ever-after—since life just doesn’t work that way—but positivity and solidarity shine through in each of the tales and will warm your heart.

So enjoy these stories of unexpected companionship, old lovers reuniting, second chances and creative problem-solving, with the knowledge that the proceeds from your purchase will also have a deeply positive effect—with every penny going to the British Red Cross’s UK Solidarity Fund.
