Being Anne: Coming up in October (ever hopeful…) #amreading

By | October 4, 2017

Heavens above, it’s never October already! And this new month starts with a twinge of guilt because, although all the blog tour posts have gone out on time, there are quite a few planned reads I just didn’t manage to get to. If you’re the author of one of those much-looked-forward-to books, my sincere apologies, and I will be picking yours up as soon as I can.

To be honest, I am struggling just a little. I used to love being able to read in the afternoons, a perk of being retired, sometimes a book a day: but since my mum has needed more care and attention I’m finding that a little difficult, and with rather tired eyes into the night a book now can sometimes now take me two or three days. I’ve taken steps though, to help me catch up – no more new reading promises before January 2018, and I’ll make sure I see off that backlog!

So, what firm commitments – blog tours and agreed dates – do I have for October?

I’m currently reading and enjoying The Flower Shop on Foxley Street by Rachel Dove – so lovely to see her again at the RNA Afternoon Tea in York last Saturday – and I’ll be sharing my review tomorrow, Thursday 5th October, for my stop on the blog tour arranged by Brook Cottage Books.

On Friday 6th October I’ll be joining the blog tour for The Book of Forgotten Authors by Christopher Fowler, arranged by Anne Cater at Random Things Through My Letterbox – and a perfect guest post.

On Wednesday 11th October, another blog tour – I have an extract from Invisible Women by Sarah Long, a book I really wish I could have made room for reading.

Friday 13th October? Another blog tour, and I’ll be sharing my review of Watch For Me By Moonlight by Kirsty Ferry, an author whose books I always enjoy.

Two posts planned for Sunday 15th October! I’ll be sharing my review of the latest book by Sue Moorcroft, The Little Village Christmas, as part of the blog tour. I’m sure it’s no secret that she’s one of my very favourite authors, and I’m so looking forward to returning to Middledip.

I’m also looking forward to introducing you to Fiona Rintoul’s book, The Leipzig Affair, as one of a series of features with a rather different twist.

It’s a month for favourites… on Monday 16th October I’ll be sharing my review of the latest from Barbara Copperthwaite, Her Last Secret. I’ve already read this one… and it’s something very special.

On Wednesday 18th October I’ll be sharing an extract from Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin by Catherine Ferguson for a blog tour arranged by Avon Books.

Then on Friday 20th October I’m delighted to be welcoming Anne Allen – yes, yet another favourite, and on publication day! – to tell us more about her latest Guernsey novel, The Betrayal.

Saturday 21st October? I’ve been really wanting to try Eva Jordan’s writing, and I’ll be looking forward to sharing my review for her latest, All The Colours In Between, for my stop on the blog tour.

On Monday 23rd October (happy birthday to me!) I’ll be joining the blog tour for A Vicarage Christmas by Kate Hewitt.

Then on Tuesday 24th October I’ll be delighted to join the blog tour for John Jackson’s Heart of Stone – one I definitely plan to read in the New Year.

Another blog tour review on Sunday 29th October – this time for The Forgotten Room by Ann Troup. I so enjoyed The Silent Girls – and I’m really looking forward to this one.

Is it nearly November yet? Ah, two more beauties to come on Tuesday 31st October. I’ll be sharing an excellent guest post from Stephanie Elmas – I really enjoyed her first book The Room Beyond, and she’ll be telling us more about her new one, Illusion.

And I have one more blog tour review, and this is one I’m rather excited about – The Winter’s Child by Cassandra Parkin.

Isn’t it just wonderful being a blogger? Plenty of time in between to do more reading, and I’ll be slotting in as many reviews as I possibly can. I’m going to live dangerously again, and share the covers of the other books I really hope to get to. Should I fail (yet again), please forgive me – there’s always November and December…

I know that feeling Anne. I am considering not taking on anything else in 2018 and trying to simplt review the backlog! Good luck!

I’m impressed that you manage so many! I don’t know about October creeping up, I think I’m still in May! Time flies so very quickly these days. It was great to meet you in York. As we discussed, Resolutions can wait until around New Year. I hope your mum is keeping well. Love Carol

That is a brilliant challenge to be facing – I hope you manage them all because they look fascinating! Good luck!

Your superpower is clearly ‘Getting Stuff Done Under Pressure.’ Huge thanks, once again, Anne for your kindness. <3
And this is a great list, although far & away my favourite expectation is Cassandra's The Winter's Child. Can't wait! xXx

I would appreciate it if I could do it after December, Graeme – and it’s probably better that way so you’re not lost among the Christmas books! E mail me if you like – we’ll pin down a timing that suits us both…

And I just realised I wasn’t following you Suzanne – now put that right on Twitter and WordPress. Thanks for commenting, and I’ll look forward to seeing your reviews too…
