Being Anne: Coming up in September #amreading

By | September 8, 2017

Goodness, it’s 8th September already, and I haven’t done my usual “looking forward” post. I’ve always found it useful as a reminder to myself, setting out a few dates – perhaps my failure to pull it together this month is a sign that my planning isn’t quite up to my usual military operation standards. Caring for mum is taking a little more out of me than I expected, and my blogging and reading are largely confined to the early hours of the morning or late at night – I often wake with my kindle on my face, my efforts to have read just a few more pages having evidently failed!

On Saturday we’re off for a week’s break in Whitby – it seemed best to stay within easy reach of the emergency services this time. I’m rather looking forward to a visit to the Pannett Art Gallery (recommended by Kirsty Ferry, when I featured her book The Girl in the Photograph), and perhaps visits to Staithes and Runswick Bay; and we’re also planning a visit to Robin Hood’s Bay, much loved by Sharon Booth and the inspiration for the Kearton Bay of her novels. Hopefully there will be some relaxed reading time too…

So, rather than a day-by-day breakdown, let me share some of the highlights of the month ahead – the fixed points around which I’ll be writing reviews of the books I’m reading.

On Sunday 10th September, I’ll be joining the blog tour for Maria in the Moon by Louise Beech, sharing my review…

Then on Wednesday 13th September I’ll have two posts – I’m joining the blog tour for The Little Bakery on Rosemary Lane by Ellen Berry, sharing an extract.

I’ll also be joining in with the “blitz” for Shadows by Thorne Moore, sharing my review for a second time.

On Sunday 17th September I’ll be featuring the new release from the wonderful Blackbird BooksThe Spell of the Horse by Pam Billinge – as part of the blog tour.

On Monday 18th September, I’ll be sharing my review of Deadly Intent by Sheryl Browne – one of my favourites! – for the blog tour organised by Brook Cottage Books

… and on Tuesday 19th September I’ll be featuring the latest by Georgina Troy, Summer Sundaes.

I’m so looking forward to Thursday 21st September. I have the honour of starting the blog tour for Snow Sisters by Carol Lovekin, on publication day. I’m halfway through reading this one – taking my time, because I’m savouring every word. I’ll be sharing my review, with an accompanying introductory post from its immensely talented author.

On Sunday 24th September, I’ll be equally delighted to join the blog tour honouring Helen Cadbury, with my review of her last book, Race to the Kill.

On Thursday 28th September, I’m back with a tour for Brook Cottage Books – featuring Lonely Hearts by Gwyn GB.

And on Thursday 29th September, it’ll be a real pleasure to welcome Shelley Wilson as I join the tour for her latest, How I Motivated Myself to Succeed.

I have a couple of outings to look forward to this month too. I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone at the  Birmingham blogger/author meet-up on Saturday 23rd September, and I’ll also be at the RNA Afternoon Tea on Saturday 30th September.

So what else am I reading this month, and hoping to review? Always slightly dangerous this one… and I hope I’ll manage them all. If not… well, there’s always October!

A busy time ahead Anne. Will be joining you on several of these tours. Particularly looking forward to the Snow Sisters tour. Loved Carole’s last book, no doubt this will be just as good if not better. Agree, she’s a very talented writer.

Looking forward to all of that, Anne. Some excellent looking books in there and some tours we share.

The Cath Staincliffe is brilliant so hope you fit that one in. I’ve just heard she has a new one out really soon too.

I hope you have a lovely time in Whitby, Anne, and that the weather stays fine for you. I’m so sorry to miss you at the RNA tea. I’m not able to go this year. Hope you have a great time, and that your mum enjoys the holiday!
