I’m delighted today to welcome Katrina Hart to Being Anne. Katrina – or Katie, as her friends call her – is the author of one novel, Finding Destiny (available as an ebook and in paperback), but has since released two novellas, The Flower Angel (ebook/paperback) and Love in Little Snow (ebook/paperback), and a short story, The Naked Sleepwalker’s Christmas.
Welcome to Being Anne, Katie – tell us more about love between worlds…
When I started writing Finding Destiny, I felt the characters and their adventure into Quill City was magical, an adventure that I could see through many characters’ eyes even Miss Talk Alot’s, a bossy doll.
Who could resist talking dolls and robots such as Fumble and Flicker, who believed in peace towards other? Then there was Alex and Faith and their unspoken bond, even when they were worlds apart fighting the good fight for those they loved, trying to make a wonderful future in the wake of Dragonstar’s destruction.
These characters are what kept me following and writing all hours of the night. But, eventually their story came to an end, and it was time for their journey to move on to publication and into the reading world of humans. Blossom would say to spread her goodness to everyone.
This was the first book I’d written, so after it was released. I went on a journey too. I started a blog which I still write and enjoy and got to grips with Twitter as well as Goodreads. I had my characters drawn and got to know a great artist, found a great interior designer to put my character drawings into my paperback. I learnt more about cover design and came across a few really talented designers. All those things most authors do when starting out.
But I had no idea just how special this journey would turn out for me. I joined a few Goodreads groups and began to take part in a review group.
One of the first books I was drawn to on there was one called 3Sister by Kshitij. It had a cover that just wouldn’t let me pass it by for some reason. So after the author had sent me his book, I started to read this book on my kindle. I loved the book and after a brief encounter with the author I found his other book just in time for Halloween and this time after reviewing his book, we got talking, became friends, shared our love of books, characters, the magic of creating something from nothing.
We encouraged and inspired each other and shared some of those adventures we’d like to see our characters take. But before we know it we’d taken a journey towards each other and then we were happily in love and started writing together. A story we are still working on right now. However, when I think back on our journey I know if it wasn’t for our books bringing us together we’d never have met at all because we were worlds apart.
I think that books are not just the journey of writing and magical lands for character far away, but they can also take anyone who writes and reads them on a journey as well. It maybe the journey of finding someone who you love or of self discovery and self-publishing like with Love in Little Town and The Flower Angel. My self-published books through which I learned about self-publishing and how a story of love and angels helped my Nan in her last hours, made her feel comforted.
Books can feel like they are a gate way to the worlds so far from our own: a wonderful and sometime chilling place where readers like to go. But sometimes books can bring people together. Help find new like minded friends, new solutions to life problem and see things from all angles and in the most unlikely moments love….

My name is Katrina Hart but my friends call me Katie. I live in the East of England with my family, my two cats–Holly and Smokey–and our dog, Jessie. They are a nutty bunch but I love them all the same.
I have always had a passion for reading. I could easily spend a whole lifetime engrossed in a good book. In my twenties I joined an online writing class where I fell in love with writing my own stories.
Since I started writing I have discovered a new love for quotes. A quote that really inspired me was from Toni Morrison. Toni said: “If there’s a book you really want to read but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” I came across this quote whilst I was studying. It was one of the many things that inspired me to begin writing my first novel.
