By | July 28, 2015

Lovers and liars, divas and sinners, welcome to a world of scandal, where one woman will pay the ultimate price.

SUSPENSE: Georgia’s best friend, ballroom dancing sensation Mitzi, has vanished with boyfriend Foster while on holiday in California. Can Georgia get to the truth of their disappearance before it’s too late?

SECRETS: Reality TV star Nova could give the Kardashians a run for their money. But while she allows millions of viewers into her fabulous home, she’s unaware what her husband, celebrity mogul Jacob, is up to behind closed doors …

SEX: Tanya is filthy rich, married to a man who adores her but she is restless. And her sexual appetite is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

SCANDAL: Victoria, once the trophy-wife, has lost her mojo. Determined to get her life and marriage back on track, she’s desperate to inject some excitement in her life – but at what cost?

From the glitz of Hollywood to the glamour of Milan and the exotic luxury of India, Scandalous Lies is a deliciously unputdownable read.

Doesn’t this sound just wonderful? I almost had a little cry to myself when I first read the blurb, because I’ve had to accept that I just can’t read EVERY book published by those lovely people at Bookouture. And this book looks SO me – reading on a sunlounger, cocktail in hand… ah well! Scandalous Lies by Nigel May was published on 23rd July, for kindle (only £1.99 as I write…) and in paperback. I’m delighted to welcome Nigel to Being Anne to tell us about his life as a showbiz journalist, one I’d guess we’d all rather like to have lived.

I started working as a journalist back in the late 1980s. My first ever proper job was working on Look in! Magazine, which was a celebrity mag for young people. I used to read it when I was a small boy so to end up working there for my first job was incredible. I interviewed pop stars and people from the TV and it made me realise that I had made the right choice in being a journalist. I trained in Journalism & Business Studies at college and you always wonder if you have made the correct decision when you pick a course. As soon I saw my first article in print I knew I had.

During my career as a journalist, which lasted nearly two decades, I worked for many different magazines and newspapers and I enjoyed them all. I wrote for Inside Soap, New Woman, Bafta, The Times, Mizz, Top Of The Pops, Live & Kicking….loads of different places and I was lucky enough to interview some brilliant people. One day I would be hanging out with Ant And Dec or someone from 90210 and the next I would be chatting to Britney Spears or an actor from Coronation Street. It was fantastic and there was never a dull moment. I even got to travel a bit as well. One of my favourite trips was for more! Magazine when I got to fly to Miami to hang out with Dannii Minogue. She was there to shoot some photos for a fizzy drinks company and I was writing the behind-the-scenes feature. Dannii was totally amazing and I still know her to this day. One of my favourite moments was going jet-skiing with her. Happy days!

I worked for more! Magazine for about three and a half years as their celebrity editor and when I write my books now I often think back to experiences that happened whilst I was working there. Some of the characters that have featured in both Trinity, Addicted and Scandalous Lies have experienced things or said things that are based on actual events in my life. Things that have happened during my journalistic years. I always change the names though!

When I stopped working as a journalist and moved to working as a telly presenter I really missed writing. TV is fabulous and I adore it but there is something wonderful about being able to create characters and bring them to life. Plus because all of my books are soaked in celebrity and fame and Hollywood lifestyle I think my years as a showbiz journalist gave me a real insight into how the rich and famous live. I loved interviewing stars and now I adore weaving them into my books.

Thank you Nigel! Right, I’m off on-line to search for somewhere with that sunlounger and cocktail so I can catch up with Nigel May’s books…

Nigel May has been described as “the UK’s male Jackie Collins” and is an author, TV host and journalist. His three fiction novels have all been published by Bookouture.

His first glam fiction novel was TRINITY, an action-packed blockbuster (or bonkbuster) about the lives of the rich and famous. Glamour, beauty, fame and celebrity mix with murder, intrigue and danger to create an explosive novel which gained incredible reviews and fans across the globe. His follow-up was the glitz-meets-grit whodunit ADDICTED which was also a huge success and once again dived into the diamond-dipped world of the mega-rich but showed that all of the money and fame in the world do not always make for a happy ending. His third novel SCANDALOUS LIES is steeped in secrets, sin, sex and scandal and takes readers around the world as a mysterious celebrity disappearance is investigated.

His books have been Amazon best sellers, read by celebrities and fellow authors alike, and have proved that a man can successfully write in a ‘bonkbuster world’ that has always been a strongly female domain. Nigel was the only male writer amongst 44 authors featured in the chart-topping, beach-read anthology of short-stories SUNLOUNGER. He also contributed a short story to SUNLOUNGER 2.

On television he regularly presents on UK shopping channels where he has built up a substantial following. He has also featured on Channel 4, C5, ITV and broadcast live from America. He is also one of the UK’s most popular craft personalities, having launched his own successful range, A-May-Zing.

As a writer he has written for many of the UK’s most successful magazines and newspapers, specialising in showbiz and celebrity, as well as writing on subjects ranging from relationships through to exotic travel.
